We are all reeling from the loss of Reilly Simmons, and so I want to take the opportunity to extend my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. The word ‘shocking’ just doesn’t capture the full meaning of what we are all feeling.
Please keep her, her family, her friends in your hearts, mind, and prayers.
A Citizen-Times article about the accident can be found HERE.
It is official. Coach Martin has been named to head the TCR soccer program. Many congratulations to him!
Coach Martin made a statement, “I would like to thank Principal Amy Rhoney and Athletic Director Laura Beatty for this amazing opportunity to lead the TC Roberson soccer program. The support shown by the Roberson administration makes it one the best jobs in the state. I would also like to thank Rob Wilcher for allowing me to grow as a coach as his assistant. To follow up such a legend will be a tall task but one that I look forward to. It will be an honor to work with such talented and capable players and to represent such an amazing community. We will work hard every day to live up to the standard set by Coach Wilcher and countless alumni that have come before us.”
The TCR Fall Sports Awards Banquet was held tonight in the gym. Coach Wilcher was given a standing ovation for his many successful years as a coach and friend to the student athletes.
After each team and several individuals received recognition, the soccer team headed to the Theater for it’s awards. The voted awards resulted in the following:
Sportsmanship Award – Holden Upright
Team Before Self Award – Matt Ide
Ram Award – Evan Goosmann
MVP – Holden Upright
Then came the team slideshow. A copy of it can be found HERE (25 MB).
Congratulations to all the athletes for a great season. Congratulations to Coach Martin for being named next year’s Head Coach. But, most of all, thank you to Coach Rob Wilcher for so many years of commitment to TCR and its students.
