Because Spring sports have been suspended due to the Coronavirus, the Citizen-Times created a virtual senior night. The link to it is HERE.
Also, Coach Martin was interviewed by the Citizen-Times. HERE is the link to that video as well.
Last night, Coach Rob Wilcher led the Lady Rams to an undisputed MAC Championship by defeating the Reynolds Lady Rockets 2-0. While we congratulate the team on their victory, we thank Coach Wilcher for his lengthy service to the school and his impact on so many players.
For the Lady Rams, we wish you success in the upcoming State tournament. For Coach Wilcher, we wish you the very best for your pending retirement.
The first round of the NC State playoffs takes place on May 11. Brackets are not yet available from the NCHSAA.
A link to photographs from last night’s game taken by the Asheville Citizen-Times can be found HERE. The Citizen-Times also wrote an article about the Lady Rams entitled ‘Rams close out MAC Championship‘.
The Asheville Citizen-Times posted an article yesterday about Coach Wilcher. You can read it HERE.
“If I average 40 combined wins for the next 20 years, win two state championships and appear in five more, win National Coach of the Year once and State Coach of the Year twice, I will still not match his career,” [Coach] Martin said. “Let that sink in for a bit. That is certainly humbling. But, I will say, I would rather follow in his footsteps than compete against him because there’s a better chance I’ll have some success.”
“Rebuilding is never a long-term project with Roberson soccer….”
